Job Description:

The successful Process Chemistry Associate will perform duties related to the purification and characterization of nucleic acids and bioconjugates. Routine responsibilities include:

• Purification of nucleic acids using both reverse phase and ion exchange HPLC
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis of nucleic acids using routine methods such as UV spectrophotometry,
mass spectrometry, HPLC and LC/MS.
• Processing of nucleic acids including desalting, dialysis, ultrafiltration, lyophilization and endotoxin testing
• Preparation of HPLC buffers and other solutions
• Data tracking and management
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Preventative maintenance and care of laboratory equipment and instrumentation

Qualifications:

Suitable candidates will possess a B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 5+ years experience in HPLC purification of nucleic acids including method development. Ideal candidates will also possess demonstrated competency in process optimization and compound characterization using methods such as LC/MS, endotoxin testing and TOF-mass spectrometry.

Other Required Skills:

- Experience in nucleic acid purification and characterization required including reverse phase HPLC and ion-exchange HPLC.
- Experience with Agilent HPLC purification systems and Chemstation software preferred.
- Experience in oligonucleotide processing including desalting and lyophilization.
- Familiarity with ÄKTA large-scale purification system and Unicorn software highly desirable.
- Strong oral and written communication skills necessary.
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use database driven tracking systems to manage complex sample sets and corresponding records.
- Computer skills required include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with ChemDraw desirable.
