Job Description:

The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties that support ongoing in vivo studies. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Isolation and purification of RNA, protein, and DNA from a variety of sample types
  • RNA and protein analysis including RT/PCR, northern, and western blotting
  • Assay development
  • Data analysis and report generation
  • Routine maintenance of lab equipment and instrumentation

Qualifications:

Suitable candidates will possess a B.S. or M.S. in cellular or molecular biology or biochemistry and a minimum 3 years relevant laboratory experience. Candidates should have a strong desire to learn and grow scientifically. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to effectively work and communicate within a multi-disciplinary team.

                                                                       

Preferred Skills:

- RNA isolation from a variety of sample types
- Solid technical ability and hands-on experience with RNA characterization methods including purification, analytical gel
  electrophoresis, PCR and northern blotting
- Molecular analysis of RNA, including quantitative real time PCR
- Assay validation, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Statistical analysis
- High throughput molecular analysis
- Protein isolation, purification, and analysis using techniques such as ELISA and western blotting   
- Experience in immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry
- In vivo experience desired
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Computer skills required include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
