is a fast-contracting ATPase and is upregulated after birth. In rodent, ?MHCrepresents more than 95% of MHC whereas in humans it is only about 30%

?MHC

is a slow ATPase and the predominant myosin isoform expressed in the heart before birth. Down regulation of ?MHC and upregulation of ?MHC is a common response to cardiac injury
